STATION FOUR: Crown of Thorns

Station Four

Mark 15:16-20
The soldiers led Jesus away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium) and called together the whole company of soldiers. They put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him. And they began to call out to him, “Hail, king of the Jews!” Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff and spit on him. Falling on their knees, they paid homage to him. And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him out to crucify him.

Some of us can relate to the feelings that come when someone has bullied us or attempted to make us feel less than. When Jesus was mocked, He knew that He could change everything in a moment – after all, He is the Son of God. Wouldn’t you have wanted to pay back everyone who was treating you wrong?

This is why the story of Jesus is so significant. Instead of showing off His power, He submitted in the moment because He knew the reward that would come from it…and that reward was a relationship with you

Pick up a thorn and place it in your bag to remind you of how Jesus was mocked and bullied because of his love for you.

Take a moment to pray for those you know who are being bullied.
