STATION TWO:

THE GARDEN PRAYER

Luke 22:41-44

He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prayed that the ‘cup of suffering’ He was about to experience would pass from Him – but ultimately, it was the Father’s will that He wanted to be accomplished. This meant that, even if Jesus had to undergo suffering and pain for the sake of humanity, He would do it in order to fulfill God’s purpose.

Are you struggling with something beyond your control?  Illness, financial hardship, family issues?  Take a moment to pray for God’s will in this situation.

Remember – there is greater purpose in your pain. For the joy set before Him, Jesus endured His suffering (Hebrews 12:2) – and so can we! There is so much more on the other side of your “Yes” that you may never discover unless you endure through trials.
